Ken Thoresen is a Certified Public Account (CPA) and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) located in Lombard, Illinois.

Ken earned his B.S. degree, with Highest Honors from Elmhurst College, majoring in Business Administration and Political Science. He completed his Accounting major through graduate work at Roosevelt University.

Ken gained first hand experience working with small business entrepreneurs by growing up around and working in the family business. Ken’s work with his Father in the family’s metal fabricating business taught him valuable lessons about the challenges that small business owners and their families face.

Lessons about cash flow, bank loans, receivables and payables, logistics and production planning were all learned first hand, in real life experience.

As much as these practical applications were important, the biggest lessons learned about dealing with others in business were the same lessons and values learned at home: honesty, integrity and concern for others.

After working to sell the family business, Ken put his experience with entrepreneurs to work for other Chicago area firms. As Controller and CFO for firms ranging from medical device manufacturing to steel mill production, Ken has continued to cultivate the experience and know how that he brings to small business owners today.

Since 2001, Ken has been helping entrepreneurs and business owners as clients through his CPA firm, Thoresen, Tower & Co. Ken’s keen understanding of the challenges and satisfactions of small business has contributed to the mutual respect that he and his clients share today.

Ken brings the same partnership approach, enthusiasm and expertise to the individual client as well. Whether its taxes, retirement planning, consulting or investment advice, Ken keeps to the guiding principles of honesty, integrity and concern for the best interests of others.
